Black Tea

This type of tea is more oxidized than green tea, which generally results in a stronger, more complex flavor. Black tea gets its name from the color of the oxidized tea leaves. It is by far the most popular type of tea in America. Unlike green tea, which has a shorter shelf life, black tea will retain its flavor over a year. Black teas are often named for the regions where they are produced. Each region is known for producing teas with distinctive flavor characteristics. It can be fun to sample the different varieties of black teas, noting the differences in strength and taste. Black tea is so valuable to the cultures that produce and drink it regularly, it was even used as a form of currency in parts of Mongolia, Tibet, and Siberia in the 18th and early 19th centuries.
Casa di Mazarro is pleased to offer several varieties of black tea—ranging from the latest blends to more traditional favorites.
